We are seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst focused on backend Reporting to join our Technology Solutions team in support of our Media & Entertainment client build an incredible application solution built around global content and entertainment. The BSA will play a key role in updating an existing suite of business applications and integrate them into a seamless solution on a modern application stack. There are 60+ reports within this project and will require the analyst to document current requirements with the business, and analyze the existing reports to validate ongoing need to understand if the reports will need to be migrated to the new solution. The BSA will be required to translate technical needs into technical specs for developers around the enterprise reports. You will be working directly with the business to document requirements, as well as dive deep to verify technical reporting requirements, destinations, audiences, and document what will be required to rebuild them. You will also have experience with user acceptance testing (UAT), application support, working within an Agile development framework, and using Jira to write epics and user stories. The analyst will need to have the ability to write SQL queries to perform data validations and ensure datasets are accurate. Prior Media & Entertainment experience is preferred. Must have excellent business communications and be able to work onsite (Hybrid model) in the Los Angeles area 3 days / week (Tue, Wed, Thu) within standard PST hours.

Responsibilities



  • Collaborate with business users to gather and document detailed business requirements, particularly around backend reporting with Power BI, MicroStrategy, and SQL Server SSRS reports

  • Work closely with product and engineering teams to ensure requirements are accurately implemented with a focus on accurate reports getting rebuilt with accurate technical specs.

  • Define and manage requirements for building robust enterprise software solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals.

  • Reverse engineer existing reports to identify users, destinations, audiences, data sources, and correct output.

  • Create wireframes and workflows to map reports between systems.

  • Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate that solutions meet business needs and specifications.

  • Provide hands-on functional support and serve as an escalation point for issues related to report accuracy and proper system communications.

  • Utilize Agile development methodologies and tools like Jira to manage user stories and project tasks.

  • Run SQL queries to perform data validations and ensure data accuracy.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with IT teams and stakeholders to facilitate effective project delivery.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and continuous improvement.


Requirements and Qualifications



  • Minimum 5 years of experience in technical business analysis, with a focus on backend enterprise reporting

  • Experience with data mapping tools or Visio or Lucid to visually map out reporting pathways and dependencies if required

  • Experience writing technical specs for developers specifically with system integrations

  • Experience with Salesforce and or cloud-based (AWS, Azure, Google) data sources for reporting is highly preferred

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to create innovative solutions using technology.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying technical and business concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Experience in the media and entertainment industry, particularly with Film or TV systems is preferred.

  • Ability to work in a hybrid model, partially onsite 3 days / week in the Los Angeles area within PST hours.

  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.

  • Proven ability to multitask and manage multiple projects with both nearshore and offshore teams.

  • Comfortable facilitating requirements gathering workshops and presenting to key stakeholders

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.


Additional Details


The base range for this contract position is $50 - $75/per hour, depending on experience.


Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
