Description

SAIC is seeking a motivated and skilled Submarine Radio Room Technician whom will work effectively in a fast-paced collaborative environment at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Middletown, RI.

JOB DUTIES:
  • Provides technician support and expertise to a cross-functional team.
  • Provides solution recommendations to engineering and fabrication problems of moderate scope and complexity in an expeditious, efficient, and timely manner.
  • Hardware fabrication and assembly of systems, cables, and wire harnesses.
  • Supports engineering activities such as design, test, checkout, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro mechanical systems. Applications may include electronic circuits, photonics and logic systems.
  • Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions.
  • Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions. Collects, maintains, organizes, compiles, and manipulates technical data.
  • Provides redlines or identifies issues with engineering documentation, reports, or drawings (sketches/flow charts/diagrams/schematics, etc.).

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & CLEARANCE:
  • Associate's degree in a technical field preferred; will accept High school diploma or GED certificate with technical experience.
  • Must currently possess an active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS Clearance.
  • Production cable building experience.
  • Experience with Electro-mechanical hardware design and fabrication.
  • Ability to read schematics/drawings and troubleshooting from schematics/drawings.
  • Ability to use a variety of precision measuring tools, including multi meters, micrometers, calipers, and other similar metrology devices.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Common Submarine Radio Room (CSRR) experience.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience in the following fields: Periscope Technician, Photonics Technician, Satellite Communications, Sail Coordinator, HF Technician, Fiber Optic Technician, CM Maintenance Technician, Radio Operator, Radar Operator, ESM System Expert, Piloting Party, EM Maintenance Technician, ESM/Radar, ESM Operator, or Communications System Expert.
  • Additional training or experience with the following: Radio Supervisor, LAN Technician of the Watch, ISIS system (Integrated Submarine Imaging System), RFDACS (Radio Frequency Distribution and Control System), EKMS Manager (Electronic Key Management System), 2M certified, LAN Manager, ESM Supervisor, ICADF (Improved Communications Acquisition and Direction Finding) system.
