Job Description

IQ Clarity's client, a financial services company based in Denver, CO, is looking for a Senior Oracle DBA with database development and data warehousing experience.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) with strong development expertise to join our team. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in managing Oracle databases, as well as proficiency in Oracle development, particularly with PL/SQL. The role requires comprehensive knowledge of data warehousing, data modeling, and extensive experience with production support, performance tuning, and database monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Database Administration: Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle databases in a high-availability environment.
  • Development: Develop and optimize PL/SQL procedures, functions, and packages to support business processes and enhance database functionality.
  • Data Warehousing & Modeling: Design and implement data models and data warehousing solutions, ensuring scalability, performance, and flexibility to meet business needs.
  • Production Support: Provide Level 2 and Level 3 production support for Oracle databases, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring database availability and security.
  • Performance Tuning: Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and execute strategies for optimizing queries, indexes, and overall database efficiency.
  • Backup & Recovery: Develop and manage backup/recovery strategies using RMAN and Data Guard for disaster recovery and business continuity.
  • Monitoring & Alerts: Set up monitoring systems to track database health, resource usage, and performance metrics using tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
  • Collaboration: Work closely with application developers, business analysts, and infrastructure teams to ensure that database performance supports overall application functionality.
  • Security: Implement and maintain database security policies and best practices to protect sensitive data.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database environments, schemas, processes, and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA with proven experience in Oracle development (PL/SQL).
    • Hands-on experience with Oracle Database 11g/12c/19c in production environments.
    • Proficiency in data warehousing concepts and tools, as well as data modeling methodologies.
    • Expertise in performance tuning, database monitoring, and troubleshooting production issues.
  • Skills:
    • Strong PL/SQL programming skills, including package/procedure creation and query optimization.
    • Experience with Data Guard, RMAN, OEM, and other Oracle tools.
    • In-depth knowledge of database security, including user management and roles.
    • Familiarity with Unix/Linux and shell scripting.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or other cloud database platforms.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases or other relational database systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL.
  • Certification as an Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) is a plus.
