JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Lab Support Services Technician with strong clerical and customer service skills to join our onsite team in Detroit, MI. This role is more administrative than clinical and requires experience with healthcare information systems, especially SunQuest and Epic.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing select lab-related tasks under direct supervision and must be comfortable with high-volume phone communication, including critical value calling. There is no lab testing involved in this role.

JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Lab Support Services Technician with strong clerical and customer service skills to join our onsite team in Detroit, MI. This role is more administrative than clinical and requires experience with healthcare information systems, especially SunQuest and Epic.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing select lab-related tasks under direct supervision and must be comfortable with high-volume phone communication, including critical value calling. There is no lab testing involved in this role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform select procedures on blood and/or other body fluids/specimens using manual techniques or lab instruments, as guided by protocols.
- Utilize laboratory information systems effectively (SunQuest, Epic preferred).
- Perform clerical duties, including accurate documentation and record-keeping.
- Communicate effectively with team members and clinical staff.
- Make phone calls to relay critical lab results in a timely and professional manner.
- May assist with phlebotomy procedures if needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Laboratory Science
- Certification from a recognized national certifying agency (ASCP or NCA)
- Strong customer service and clerical experience
- Excellent verbal communication and phone etiquette skills
- Ability to work onsite and be flexible with shift requirements
PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience with SunQuest Laboratory Information System
- Experience with Epic Electronic Health Records system
