Position Overview:
We seek a seasoned Data Governance Alation Specialist to enrich our Data Management team. Your expertise will enhance our approach to Data Governance, magnifying best practices and strategic uptake. If you thrive on navigating the complexities of data stewardship principles, handling sensitive information according to industry regulations, and excelling in analytical reasoning to solve intricate challenges, we want you on our team.

Key Qualifications:
- Proficient in the administration and execution of Data Governance initiatives utilizing the Alation platform, with a minimum of 4 years in a similar role.
- Comprehensive knowledge of data governance regulations, data management tactics, data protection, and compliance with legal mandates.
- Adept at discussing intricate data subjects with a broad range of stakeholders, from technical experts to those without a technical background.
- Proven ability to analyze problems effectively and develop viable data governance solutions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Part-time on-site presence required: 3 days per week.
- Willingness to relocate, with relocation assistance provided for candidates outside commuting distance.
- Cultivate business insights through enhanced data quality, accessibility, discovery, and interoperability, adhering to the principles of the FAIR data initiative.
- As a Data Governance Alation expert, deliver superior technical consulting to clientele, spanning multiple aspects of Data Governance.
- Track and adapt to shifting trends and technologies within the industry, anticipating impacts on data governance.
- Develop a strategic vision for data governance technical solutions, synchronized with organizational Data Governance strategies.
- Propel our thought leadership in Data Governance technology evaluation, possessing deep knowledge on leading platforms like Collibra, Informatica, and Alation.
- Construct frameworks for data governance solutions encompassing Enterprise Data governance facets, including cataloging, metadata management, lineage tracking, business glossaries, data quality management, and data access controls.
- Provide expert technical architecture for client assignments, ensuring alignment with their immediate and long-range plans.
- Exhibit cross-disciplinary vision, harmonizing business and IT goals for clients.
- Validate superior quality in technical architecture by evaluating testing strategies and their successful completion.
- Hands-on configuration and integration of Data Governance elements as necessary.
- Initiate and steer client-facing pre-sales engagements and workshops.
- Streamline processes to enhance efficiency and support ongoing Data Governance operations.
- Engage with internal product teams to refine Data Governance functions.
- Mentor and direct less experienced colleagues.

Technical Architect Role:
- Grasp client needs and propose Data Governance solutions tailored to their unique challenges.
- Partner effectively with clientele to design and execute comprehensive data governance strategies.
- Display confident technical and strategic leadership as a trusted consultant to internal and external stakeholders.
- Guide project scope definition, estimation, and key activities for quality deliverables.
- Design and roll out Data Governance projects matching client specifications.
- Utilize leading DG tools (Informatica IDMC, Collibra, Alation) or exploit cloud-native capabilities (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) for solution design.
- Tackle and rectify technical problems as they arise.
- Elevate the expertise of junior team members in DG technical skillsets.
- Contribute to Pre-Sales and Business Development in the Data Governance arena.
- Develop use cases, proofs of concept, and demonstrations showcasing capabilities in governance of Life Science data assets, encompassing proprietary and third-party data sources.
