Description

SAIC is seeking experienced Principal Systems Architecture and Requirements Engineer to support the Tranche 3 Program Integration (T3PI), our Prime program supporting the Space Development Agency (SDA).

Note: This role can be based out of Chantilly, VA; Aurora, CO; or El Segundo, CA.

As the Principal Systems Architecture and Requirements Engineer, you will be supporting the Systems Engineering and Integration of the Tranche 3 constellation, which includes hundreds of satellites accomplishing multiple mission areas including missile warning, tracking and defense and tactical communications to warfighters. You will work with the SDA, end users, space vehicle contractors, and ground segment contractors to ensure the architecture, requirements, implementation, integration and testing are executed successfully.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Works as a key part of the overall Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) group that is the core of the T3PI team.
  • Works with Mission Engineers to develop CONOPs, Use Cases and System Requirements based on end-user needs, leveraging digital engineering tools and tracking compliance as development, integration and test progresses.
  • Translates system requirements into system architectures that integrate space, ground and end user systems to meet overall mission needs while considering technical, schedule, and cost constraints
  • Develops system models that capture the architecture and requirements.
  • Decomposes system requirements to segment requirements and works with space vehicle and ground segment contractors to ensure consistent application.
  • Participates in the development of system threads that evaluate and document step-by-step functional behaviors between space, ground and end user elements. Ensures that requirements are captured in system threads and vice versa.
  • Performs trade studies.
  • As the program progresses, participates in planning and execution of system-level tests and the evaluation of segment-level test plans and execution.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant experience OR Masters and 7 years of relevant experience in Engineering or Engineering Sciences. Additional professional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Developing and/or sustaining high-reliability systems for national security, preferably including space and/or ground systems or space-to-ground integration.
  • Experience with systems engineering involving the architecture, requirements, integration and/or test of complex multi-element systems.
  • Excellent communication and teaming skills.

Desired Education and Experience:
  • Experienced with fast-paced development programs in the space domain.
  • A high degree of proficiency using one or more MBSE tools to include Cameo Systems Modeler and/ or DOORs.
  • Experience with space-based tactical communications; missile warning, tracking and defense; or custody of targets from space.
  • Experience in Agile methods for program management or software development.
  • Experience developing CONOPS, System Use Cases, and/or System Threads.

Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
