Job Details

Summary: We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in Unisys OS 2200 to provide support in a dynamic Federal Government environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with DMS 2200 and RDMS 2200, as well as Unisys COBOL (ACOB/UCOB). The DBA will manage the development, tuning, and maintenance of databases, collaborate with development teams, and provide secondary production support, ensuring optimal performance and functionality.

Required Skills:

  • Extensive experience as a DBA on Unisys OS 2200, primarily in Database Management System (DMS 2200) and Relational Database Management System (RDMS 2200).
  • Knowledge of computer programming, database design, and applicable tools.
  • Proficiency in Unisys COBOL, including ACOB and UCOB.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of Meta-Assembler (MASM), Symbolic Stream Generator (SSG), CMplus, and ALN (Access Location Number).

Day-to-Day Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide Unisys database administration, design, and development support in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborate with development teams to modify and optimize database access interfaces.
  • Troubleshoot operational or performance problems with databases, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Work with management to develop database strategies to meet agency needs.
  • Support non-production databases and secondary production database operations.
  • Modify schemas, subschemas, and RDMS tables, while maintaining UCOB applications.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical database-related issues.
  • Monitor and ensure the completion of operational processes such as incident resolution, root cause analysis, and continual service improvements.
  • Prepare technical documentation, and ensure it is accurate and current.
  • Apply diagnostic techniques to identify and solve system problems.
  • Lead or participate in project activities and process improvements as needed.
  • Implement schema changes and coordinate with other Unisys applications within the environment.
  • Provide support for database monitoring, alerting, and performance tuning, while collaborating with developers on data cleanup, conversions, upgrades, and other tasks.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, IT, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with Unisys OS 2200 and database systems.

Certifications:

  • Relevant Unisys or database certifications are preferred but not required.

Work Environment:

  • Location: Primarily remote, with possible travel to customer locations as needed.
  • Availability: Willingness to provide on-call support as required by the business.
