Starting Salary Range: $77,000 - $87,000 - position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.
As an Engineer I on MISO's Market Evaluation Team your work will directly contribute to ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of the power grid that serves 45 million people. By analyzing and enhancing market and system operations you'll help MISO manage congestion through its market systems and ensure sufficient resources are online and available to meet system demands and support grid reliability.
In this newly created role, you will evaluate and report on the health of MISO's markets, focusing on their reliability, efficiency and ability to incentivize desired behaviors. You will be part of a growing team that has the opportunity to recommend and evaluate new wholesale electricity market design initiatives to positively impact market outcomes for our stakeholders and end use customers.

- You are able to perform engineering, statistical and economic analysis on market and system operations, market products, Market Participant behaviors and their resulting market outcomes
- You understand the mechanics of the MISO market systems and how they fit together
- You are able to assess the health of the markets, deliver timely event reporting and validate that market outcomes align with related design requirements
- You collect, categorize, and analyze data to identify patterns and trends
- You are using data visualization software to report findings in a clear and understandable way
- You improve analytical processes by identifying, streamlining, and automating redundant activities
Skills and experience needed for our Market Evaluation Engineer I:
- Bachelor's degree in Power Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology, or other related field required
- A minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience work experience preferred
- Specific experience is preferred in energy market forecasting and analysis, power system analysis and operation and associated software development, data science, statistical and econometrics analysis, market design, optimization algorithms
- Working knowledge of data analysis tools and programming languages - Python, PowerBI, Azure
- Experience working with power engineering tools such as PowerGem, Plexos (preferred, not required)
