POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Cloud Operations is a hands-on leader responsible for developing, managing, and executing DSS's IT infrastructure strategies. This role requires both strategic oversight and active involvement in day-to-day operations to ensure the organization's cloud and IT infrastructure meets business needs efficiently and effectively. The Director will lead by example, providing technical guidance, fostering collaboration within the team, and working alongside staff to troubleshoot and implement solutions. Additionally, the Director will manage vendor relationships, encourage continuous improvement, and ensure that all infrastructure initiatives align with DSS's strategic goals and regulatory requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy and Leadership
- Formulate, communicate, and oversee DSS's IT cloud operations strategies to meet the evolving needs of the organization.
- Ensure infrastructure solutions are designed with a focus on business continuity, scalability, operational efficiency, and automation.
- Develop and implement cloud and system support strategies for system builds upgrades, monitoring, patching, and backups.
- Ensure DSS meets and maintains service-level agreements (SLAs) with 99.95% uptime for all commercial and federal products and services.
- Strong focus on mentorship, teamwork, and continuous improvement, aligning the job with industry expectations for leadership roles.
Performance Management and Operational Excellence
- Define and communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) to objectively measure the success of the IT Infrastructure Team.
- Establish a Network Operations Center (NOC) to monitor systems and proactively address potential issues, ensuring uninterrupted service.
- Develop a sustainable on-call schedule with rotating staff to provide 24/7 coverage while preventing burnout.
Monitoring, Patching, and Automation
- Implement robust monitoring solutions to provide real-time visibility into infrastructure performance and proactively detect incidents.
- Ensure regular patching cycles and software updates to maintain security and system integrity.
- Lead efforts to automate repetitive tasks and processes, enhancing efficiency and minimizing human error.
- Identify and adopt new technologies and tools that improve service delivery while reducing operational overhead.
Vendor and Supplier Management
- Manage relationships with third-party suppliers, ensuring alignment with DSS's goals and compliance with service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to resolve incidents and optimize system performance.
Operational Oversight and Financial Management
- Provide input into budget planning and ensure financial targets are met without compromising operational performance.
- Ensure compliance with DSS's Incident and Change Management policies throughout the team.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts during incidents and fulfill on-call responsibilities as needed to maintain uptime and performance.
Project Management and Continuous Improvement
- Manage IT projects, including system installations, upgrades, and other key initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement by researching and recommending automation tools and innovative processes to optimize operations.
- Implement automated monitoring and administrative workflows to improve system administration in physical and cloud environments.
SECURITY AND PRIVACY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to security and privacy requirements as outlined by HIPAA, SOC2, FedRAMP, and NIST 800-53.
- Complete FedRAMP-specific training and ensure compliance with associated controls.
- For high-risk roles, complete advanced security training based on access levels and responsibilities.
- Ensure employees with access to modify data or configuration baselines undergo further specialized training.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- 10+ years of experience leading IT methodologies in complex enterprise environments.
- 7+ years of proven experience and success engineering and designing enterprise-level IT systems.
- Proven ability to interact with multiple stakeholders and achieve alignment on organizational goals.
- Experience in budget planning to align financial targets with business objectives.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to engage both internal and external audiences.
- Expertise in technical documentation and the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts to non-technical staff.
- Strong time management, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated project management expertise.
