Job Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and licensed Drainage Engineer / Water Resource Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring 5-15 years of expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater drainage, and floodplain management, with hands-on experience using FLO-2D and Hec-RAS software. This role requires a professional with strong technical, project management, and collaborative skills to deliver high-quality drainage and water resource solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and analyze hydrologic and hydraulic models for drainage and flood control projects using FLO-2D, Hec-RAS, and other industry-standard tools.
- Lead and contribute to water resource planning, stormwater management, and flood risk assessment projects.
- Design stormwater drainage systems, detention basins, channels, and culverts in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct floodplain mapping, flood hazard assessments, and stormwater impact analyses.
- Prepare and review technical reports, engineering studies, and drainage plans for accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with project teams, including civil engineers, planners, and environmental scientists, to integrate drainage and water resources into larger projects.
- Participate in public meetings, client presentations, and stakeholder discussions as needed.
- Support project permitting and regulatory approval processes.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on project design and modeling practices.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Arizona
- 5-20 years of experience in drainage engineering, water resources, or a related field.
- Proficiency with FLO-2D and Hec-RAS modeling software; experience with other relevant software (e.g., ArcGIS, SWMM) is a plus.
- Strong understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater management, and floodplain regulations.
- Experience with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements for stormwater and drainage design.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
- Proven experience in project management and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or related field; Master s degree preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of sustainable and resilient drainage practices.
- Experience with advanced hydrologic and hydraulic modeling techniques.
- Prior experience mentoring and guiding junior staff.
