Description:
Are you a highly skilled Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with expertise in Python programming, automation testing, and cloud technologies? Our industry-leading client in the energy sector is seeking a dynamic professional to lead test automation efforts and drive quality assurance initiatives across multiple teams and business units.

This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Rate: $80 - $100 / hr. w2

Responsibilities:
Provide technical direction and lead test automation strategy for microservices, integration, and regression testing.

Develop and maintain automation frameworks for testing in AWS, Kafka, Kubernetes, and cloud-based environments.

Conduct load testing, shell scripting, data integrity validation, and compliance testing.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product owners, data engineers, and software developers to align technical solutions with business goals.

Lead the design, build, test, and deployment of critical components while ensuring test-driven development (TDD) best practices.

Assist with prioritizing and managing backlog items to ensure smooth software delivery.

Perform impact analysis and risk assessment for design and implementation changes.

Ensure data security, user access controls, and performance optimization in cloud environments.

Experience Requirements:
5+ years of experience as an SDET in a software development environment.

Expertise in Python programming (must-have).

Experience in test automation for microservices, integration, and regression testing.

Hands-on experience with AWS tools & services (S3, EMR, Glue, Lambda, Athena, Kinesis, EC2, SNS, CloudWatch).

Proficiency with Kafka, Kubernetes (k8s), and cloud-based automation testing.

Load testing experience using JMeter or similar tools.

Strong background in CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation).

Familiarity with data analytics, ETL pipelines, and workflow automation.

Experience working with big data platforms (Redshift, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, MongoDB).

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with power systems engineering and automated fault analysis systems.

Background in Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Dispatch.

Hadoop, Hive, Spark, PySpark, and SQL experience is a plus.

Previous experience working in a highly regulated environment (energy/utilities preferred).

Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
