About the Role

In this role you will:
  • Lead and organize day-to-day database administration and management activities for mission critical Oracle databases relied on by SWIFTNet and FIN messaging services. This includes health data collection and analysis, database performance analysis and tuning, proactive database administration activities and others.
  • Drive automation initiatives of various reoccurring administration activities: log scanning, metrics collection, performance report analytics, capacity growth.
  • Develop strategies to proactively identify production database issues.
  • Monitor and coordinate increases in capacity based on trend analysis and new project requirements.
  • Resolve complex database health and performance problems by investigating and devising solutions for database operations.
  • Interact with database/software systems engineering, applications development and support teams to restore availability of services and determine the root cause of complex problems.
  • Maintain and exercise a set of recovery procedures to restore databases in the most reliable way.
  • Define and implement recommendations for complex issues in the area of database management systems.
  • Use opportunities to develop yourself and others in a highly collaborative environment.
  • This position is mission critical and requites mostly on-site support with a flexibility of remote on demand basis.
  • Willing to perform weekend migration and change activities on a rotational basis with other team members.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to support critical production databases.

Required technical skills & knowledge
  • Worked on Oracle Database Enterprise Edition 11.2, 12.1, 12.2 and 19c. Partitioning and multi-tenancy options.
  • Worked with Oracle Cloud Control (OCC)
  • Deep understanding of AWR and ASH reports
  • Scripting in shell, python or perl
  • Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)
  • Database Vault for stricter access control
  • Strong knowledge of IT security, mainly in the DBA area

Desirable technical skills & knowledge
  • Certifications: Oracle Database 19c/12c Administrator Certified Associate (OCA) or (OCP)
  • Oracle GoldenGate for data replication
  • Oracle DataGuard for Disaster Recovery (DR)
  • Recovery manager (RMAN) for database backup/restore
  • Knowledge of any of these CI/CD tools: Jenkins, Ansible, Nexus repository
  • Experience with distributed systems with high availability requirements and balancing the service reliability, sustainability, and technical debt for services running at scale
  • Demonstrated leverage of a methodical and analytical mindset during problem investigations and management of incidents

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related discipline
  • 6+ years of work experience managing Oracle databases.

The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position in Virginia is 90,580.00 USD Annual MINIMUM to 168,220.00 USD Annual MAXIMUM. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
