The Global Demand Center (GDC) within Microsoft is responsible for delivering integrated marketing experiences for Microsoft by building, running, and innovating a globally scaled engine to deliver connected journeys that delight customers and create fans. The Analytics and Data Science team within the GDC enables data-driven decision making by providing data and insights to measure marketing's performance and impact, understand the customer experience, and develop advanced models for marketing.

As a Senior Marketing Data Analyst focused on events, you will be responsible for creating analysis and insights that deliver impactful results to stakeholders with rapidly evolving requirements. You will support the rhythm of the business, guiding and recommending actions to your stakeholders based on data and insights, extending from performance of events to building complex models to determine areas for greater efficiency and opportunities for enhancement from demand gen to post-event engagement. We are seeking someone curious, comfortable with ambiguity, detail-oriented, and able to use rigorous analytical techniques to develop scalable, efficient, and effective analytical models. You will dive deep into data to tell a story, build on the successes of others, value cross-team collaboration, and contribute to a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
    • OR Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
  • 3+ years experience utilizing SQL AND Excel for data manipulation and analysis.
  • 3+ years experience with Python and/or R for statistical analysis and data modeling.
  • 2+ year of hands-on experience with Azure Analytics tools and services or like products/services.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 6+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
    • OR Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Generative AI (GenAI) applications in a marketing context

Data Analytics IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $103,800 - $200,300 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,700 - $219,200 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Lead large, complex analytics and reporting projects, delivering accurate, accessible, and repeatable business reporting and insights to stakeholders across all levels.
  • Demonstrate leadership and knowledge in the business and data landscape, standardized reporting, experimentation, and analysis to support performance discussions across multiple channels.
  • Proactively help the business leverage data and insights to enhance our ability to inform on event management efforts and increase the efficacy of our approaches. Provide rhythm of the business analytics support, actionable insights, and recommendations to optimize and scale flagship events.
  • Apply a customer/stakeholder-oriented focus and user experience design best practices to ensure data analysis is easily consumable through visualization, presentation, and storytelling.
  • Partner with Data Services on technical requirements to enable data availability, data quality, transformations, and integrity for analytics and wider business self-service usage.
  • Execute data analysis using multiple data sets and sources. Lead discussions interpreting results and connecting them to relevant business context. Provide actionable recommendations to optimize business investments in a way that can be repeated and scaled as needed.
  • Define, build, and maintain performance metrics, dashboards, and analysis. Provide relevant information in an automated, self-service, and efficient manner to enable business optimization and tracking for $100M+ annual investment.
