Job Details

Tesla is redefining what's possible with AI and robotics - Optimus is at the center of that vision. We're now on a path to take Optimus out of the lab and into the factory, scaling them into produced in volume. This is once-in-a-generation opportunity to bring advanced robotics products into mass production - and you'll be on the front lines, making it happen.
The Optimus Firmware team is seeking a Firmware Integration Engineer to develop critical tools for diagnostics, testing, and validation of our robot systems. As a Firmware Integration Engineer, you will develop software tools for the factory in close collaboration with development, quality, and manufacturing teams, driving projects forward at a rapid pace by uniting cross-functional efforts into cohesive, scalable solutions. You will also be expected to get your hands dirty in the details of various subsystems - digging through robot logs, root causing issues and developing solutions to complex problems. Acting as the eyes and ears of the Optimus organization on the factory floor, you will play a critical role in deciding when new software is ready for deployment to manufacturing - providing valuable insight and feedback to accelerate development of new software features.

Responsibilities
  • Set up system level manufacturing processes, related to firmware, from initial concept to final product
  • Develop software tools for vehicle diagnostics, testing, and validation

  • Validate firmware in manufacturing through the integration and release of new firmware versions
  • Develop software solutions to bridge manufacturing process gaps, maintaining firmware quality, and streamlining production
  • Develop and improve tools as well as resolve firmware related issues to support production in meeting their targets
  • Influence the end-to-end process of firmware integration into robot subsystems within manufacturing
  • Troubleshoot high priority production situations through root cause analysis and implementation of short- and long-term solutions

Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Strong scripting skills in Python
  • Experience testing and validating embedded software in electro-mechanical systems
  • Strong experience collaborating with colleagues and communicating complex technical concepts to others of varied technical backgrounds
  • Must be detail-oriented with an ability to think creatively and produce "outside of the box" solutions
  • Exceptional ability to keep multiple projects moving forward
  • Experience working with new product introduction and process improvements
  • Experience working in high volume automotive manufacturing
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing metrics
  • 2+ years of professional/relevant experience, preferred
