IT Specialist Mid
Education/Years Experience:
-Two to four (2-4) years of experience required.
-High school Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED);
Certifications:
-CompTIA A+ /Sec+(Certified in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level)
NOT required but DEFINITE plus:
-One of the following:
--Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
--Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) ---> THIS IS MOST REALISTIC OPTION
--Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)
--Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)
Security Clearance: Ability to obtain a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI), SECRET INTERIM to start.
While the Enterprise Service Desk offers over the phone, 100% remote support, the team of IT Specialists (both JR and SR) offer hands on desktop support. They do a lot of reimaging, pushing out Windows 10, rolling out software upgrades, shipping out hardware to Marines that need new equipment, etc. They will be involved in Tier 1 troubleshooting on issues escalated to them from the Enterprise Service Desk.
The IT Specialist Jrs. will report directly to IT Specialist Sr. for any guidance and escalation questions. This is a career path that someone in the IT Specialist Jr. role could pursue.
NGEN (Next Generation Enterprise Network) is one of the largest intranets in the world. This is the unclassified network which the US Marine Corps and Navy work on.
Duties:
This candidate will focus on TCOM, VOIP, Call Manager support
-An IT Specialist Mid will install, configure, service, repair, and maintain IT systems in both a stand-alone and client-server environment, including MS server, Defense Message Systems, and other authorized IT systems.
-Install, configure, service, repair, and maintain hardware and software for network services, storage networking devices, and servers. Integrate multiple information systems in a networked environment, evaluate and resolve customer information system problems, effect required hardware upgrades and repair to maintain mission capability.
-Install and configure wireless hubs, routers, switches, and various transmission media, server hardware and software, and ensure the proper installation and configuration of workstation hardware and software for efficient operation on the network.
-Install, optimize and troubleshoot Local Area and Base Area Networks. Familiar with Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), routing protocols: EIGRP, BGP, VLANs, VPNs, and NAT.

Ability to work as a team, understand military processes and communicate any issues through the proper channels.
