Job Title: Business Analyst III
Location: Saint Louis, MO 63130

Position Overview:

This position focuses on business analysis as part of the Student Data Program, which aims to integrate student-related data from various source systems into the Data Warehouse for reporting purposes. The role specifically emphasizes data analysis related to higher education admissions and learning management systems, building requirements for new data coming into the warehouse, analyzing existing data warehouse components (such as cross-domain reporting requirements), and facilitating user acceptance testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand data warehouse concepts and their application in data integration.
  • Create detailed requirements documentation and establish scope and objectives to determine strategies for evaluating requirement implementations in systems to achieve business goals.
  • Organize requirements by release and other necessary categories, setting up a traceability matrix while articulating relationships and dependencies.
  • Translate and simplify requirements for appropriate use; perform gap analysis and work with the technical team for requirements analysis.
  • Manage requirements and communication; apply best practices for effective communication and problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with project management to obtain requirements approvals as per project plans and facilitate go/no-go decisions.
  • Utilize requirements to drive the design or review of test cases and manage process change requests.
  • Consult with all stakeholders regarding requirements management in collaboration with Project Management.
  • Independently prioritize the completion of tasks and resolution of issues to ensure compliance with project deliverables.
  • Coordinate activities with other business analysts and participate in recommending and implementing continuous improvement plans for business analysis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Strong business acumen coupled with technical knowledge.
  • Experience in technology and application development projects, including developing technical requirements.
  • Excellent listening, research, and attention to detail skills.
  • Experience in developing functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and a consultative approach.
  • Understanding of systems engineering concepts and ability to conduct cost/benefit analysis and business case development.
  • Recognized expertise in business analysis methods and modeling techniques within the organization.
  • Ability to work closely with team members during solution development and product launch.
  • Experience in developing use cases, data, and process flows.
  • Proven ability to work independently and proactively, with strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated success in giving presentations to both small and large audiences while coordinating and completing multiple tasks within established and changing deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as a member of a highly functioning and productive team.
  • Understanding of client relationship management, process mapping and improvement, project management, and production support.
  • Proven ability to provide business analysis for large scope project teams to meet customer expectations.
  • Proficiency with business analyst tools and techniques; demonstrated proficiency using MS Office and Visio.

Education & Certifications:

  • IIBA Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or PMI Professional in Business Analysis Certification (PMI-PBA) preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools (Cognos & Tableau).
  • Experience working within a matrix organization.

Nice to Have:

  • Higher education experience (or similar K-12 experience).
  • Familiarity with Slate, Canvas, or other admissions or learning management systems.
