Location: Norfolk, Virginia
Type: Full-Time, On-Site
Role Overview
NATO s iHub in Norfolk, Virginia, is actively seeking a talented UX/UI Designer to contribute to the development of cutting-edge digital tools that support NATO s mission of enhancing collaboration and operational efficiency. This role involves the end-to-end design of user experiences, from concept to execution, focusing on the specific needs of defense and international users. As a UX/UI Designer, you ll be integral to NATO s digital transformation, helping design interfaces that are intuitive, secure, and optimized for NATO personnel and partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • User-Centered Design: Conduct user research to understand and translate NATO-specific needs into effective UX/UI solutions that support the mission s unique operational requirements.
  • Prototyping and Wireframing: Develop wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that align with NATO s design standards and are tailored to the needs of multinational users in secure environments.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to integrate user-centric designs into NATO s systems and applications.
  • Brand and Consistency Standards: Ensure all design elements are consistent with NATO branding guidelines and maintain usability across various devices, with attention to accessibility standards.
  • Iterative Improvement: Continuously refine and optimize UX/UI designs based on user feedback, testing results, and new technology trends relevant to defense and multinational collaboration.
  • Security & Compliance: Incorporate best practices for secure interface design, ensuring data privacy and protection in all UX/UI elements.
Qualifications
  • Educational Background: Bachelor s degree in Web Design and Development, Digital Media Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field. Master s degree or specialized UX/UI certifications are advantageous.
  • Experience: 5+ years in UX/UI design, preferably within multinational organizations or secure environments. Experience with defense or governmental applications is highly desirable.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in tools like Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, and usability testing platforms. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript is beneficial.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail, adaptability, and a passion for collaborative, mission-focused design.
  • Clearance Requirement: active Secret clearance
