In Controls & Avionics Solutions, you will have the opportunity to help define and develop the next generation of avionics - whether it is fly-by-wire flight controls, full authority digital engine controls, or power management.

The Software Engineering Discipline Manager will be a functional leader supervising a group of Software Engineers. Providing functional leadership with focus on effectively staffing programs, developing personnel through training and mentoring to improve their skill base and their application of those skills. Supporting project execution and working process improvement initiatives.

You will make impacts in the following ways;
  • Develop mentor/training plans
  • Improve, provide, and maintain functional processes, policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Provide functional expertise and consultation as needed (including budget and schedule)\\
  • Meet Department budgets (Training, overhead, etc)
  • Provide resources and tools required by team
  • Support New Business capture through technical solution development and quoting
  • Ensure appropriate expectations/goals are in place for employees
  • Communication flow down (Unit meetings)
  • Performance and compensation management
  • Coordinate Functional Expertise
  • Ensure a culture of Continuous improvement (lessons learned) is in place
  • Knowledge development and sharing of best practices

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent and 8+ years of related work experience.
- Previous experience in project leadership role or functional management
- Demonstrated ability to achieve cost, cycle time, customer and engineering process objectives
- Demonstrated ability to develop, lead and motivate technical teams
- Demonstrated ability to integrate and coordinate with other functions and customers
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
- Experience in full lifecycle software development including requirements, design, implementation, integration and verification
- Working knowledge of commercial and military software development processes and procedures
- Desire to continuously improve engineering processes and standards

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience leading safety critical projects (ie, flight controls, engine controls, propulsion controls)
- Experience with Requirements Development/Management (ie, DOORS) and Configuration Management (ie, Atlassian) tools
- Experience with Low Level embedded software development (ie, device drivers, BSP development)
- Experience with Control Law and/or Built In Test development
- Familiarity with industry standards such as DO-178B/C and ARP4754
- Experience with HW/SW integration
- Experience with Requirements Based Verification
- 2+ years of engineering management or project leadership experience
- Previous experience leading software engineering teams of 10 or more
- Strong mentoring, coaching and influential leadership skills

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $115100 - $195700

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
