What You ll Do:

  • Design and implement robust backend systems to support web interfaces.
  • Lead efforts to integrate third party systems with our API.
  • Improve the performance and reliability of our backend APIs and infrastructure.
  • Develop infrastructure deployment and replication models for AI-enabled edge devices.
  • Scale our backend systems 100x to support an expanding fleet of edge devices, customers, and internal human operators.
  • Research for new AI models and ML algorithms, and integrate them with our stack.
  • Critically assess and address infrastructure security risks for the entire stack.
  • Design and implement secure networking infrastructure to protect our customers data.
  • Build infrastructure configuration-as-code modules using Terraform.
  • Lead a mix of senior and junior engineers by example, establishing and maintaining best practices in backend development.
  • Lead design reviews and gather input from multiple teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Tackle challenging interdisciplinary problems within our deep tech stack.
  • Deploy changes with immediate impacts on our product, worldwide.


Requirements:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on backend development and best coding practices for Python, Go, Rust or equivalent.
  • Experience leading teams or managing projects.
  • Hands-on experience with Django or a similar web framework.
  • Experience with backend resilience, stability, and site reliability engineering (SRE) improvements.
  • Experience building and scaling high availability distributed systems.
  • Understanding of standard Observability tools such as Datadog, Cloudwatch etc.
  • Experience with IaC such as Terraform.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and DevOps practices.
  • Expertise in networking and security protocols.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems and running hardware at the edge.
  • Experience with event streams, like kinesis or equivalent.
  • Experience with performance improvements of databases and APIs.
  • Passionate about delivering high-quality products that exceed user expectations.
  • Eager to work with, mentor, and learn from peers through code reviews, design documents, and pair programming.
  • Enthusiastic about diving into different areas of technology and problem-solving.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.


Bonus Skills:

  • Experience with AI, including generative AI technologies.
  • Experience managing a fleet of edge devices.
  • Experience supporting a multi-cloud infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with the Nix package manager and its ecosystem.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Background implementing and maintaining kubernetes.
  • Background as a full-stack engineer.


Salary Range in SVBA: $160k - $210k (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law)
