Enterprise Technology Infrastructure, Platforms & Services (ETIPS) delivers services and operational support to meet business integration objectives. Architecture leadership to provide scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure solutions to meet care delivery business needs and enable future business growth.

As the Senior I O Engineer you will be responsible to maintain the currency of the z Platform DB2 system software as well as all related ISV software associated with the DB2 functionality. Additionally, you will provide system monitoring and incident resolution to the DB2 environment on the production and non-production environments.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Function design, engineer, and manage the organization's infrastructure and operational platforms
  • Cloud services model, this includes services such as IaaS and PaaS and underlying foundational components
  • Traditional enterprise infrastructure and operational platforms such as email, file transfer, and collaboration technologies, etc.
  • Solid understanding of functional and non-functional requirements to ensure they can be achieved through system design and engineering to meet the needs of the customers
  • Work closely with business and technology stakeholders to develop roadmaps for their respective technology portfolios, resolve cross-system and domain dependencies, ensure effective integration among the services offered to the end customer, and efficient usage of infrastructure and operational platforms
  • Monitor technological advancements and industry trends to influence company standards and ensure that solutions are continuously improved and maintained through product management practices, including recommendations to invest in a solution or retirement of redundant or out-of-date systems
  • Understand the interactions between systems, the applications and services hosted, and evaluate the impact of changes and additions
  • Perform analysis on existing systems to ensure performance and reliability, enhance scalability, meet security requirements, and interoperable and maintainable technology portfolio.
  • Generally work is self-directed and not prescribed
  • Works with less structured, more complex issues
  • Serves as a resource to others

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in the following capabilities:
    • Configuring and using the SMP/E tool
    • Working with Db2 Logging and System Recovery/Disaster Recovery including GDPS
    • Incorporating the Db2 Subsystem into the LPAR IPLs
    • Working with Db2 Storage Groups
    • Defining and implementing Performance features to Buffer Pools and other Db2 System level components
    • Defining and maintaining Data Sharing environments including the Db2 Sysplex
    • Downloading System Software from the vendor, installing Db2 and Db2 Administration Tools throughout the Tech, Test/Dev, and Prod environments including following all Change procedures, ensuring Application Developer testing, and the overall post implementation validation steps

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
