Job Summary
Candidates will need to work a hybrid work schedule with some days in-person and others remote. Candidates that can work from a Walgreens corporate location (Deerfield, IL or Chicago, IL) or a Walgreens Micro Fulfillment Center (Tolleson, AZ, Northlake, TX, Memphis, TN, Denver, CO, Orlando, FL, Liberty, MO, Indianapolis, IN, Mansfield, MA, Bolingbrook, IL, Mechanicsville, VA, Canal Winchester, OH, or West Jordan, UT) will be considered.
Walgreens is seeking a skilled Forensic Engineer with expertise in fulfillment automation to join our Pharmacy Central Fill Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a background in Computer, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and expertise in analyzing and investigating automation systems, including production manufacturing automation, servers, networks, and related software. This role will involve detailed investigations to identify the root causes of failures or malfunctions in complex automation systems.

- Failure Analysis: Identifies and analyzes the root causes of equipment malfunctions, software failures, and network issues within automation systems.Provides recommendation for options and develops strategy to resolve the issue.
- Technical Documentation: Prepares detailed reports on findings, including the analysis of data, equipment, and software involved in automation processes.
- Collaboration: Partners closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, engineering, and production, to gather relevant information and evidence for investigations.
- Expert Testimony: Provides expert opinions and testimony, if required, in legal or regulatory proceedings related to automation machinery failures.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensures all investigations and analyses adhere to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Recommends improvements and develops strategies to prevent future failures, based on investigative findings.
- Resolves complex issues independently.
- Research and designs manuals of existing build (End-to-end solution) and provides recommendation for improvement in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Mentors and provides model example to junior engineering staff.
- Works on short timelines, when necessary.
- Learns on-the-fly and maintains drive to improve their craft.
- May require off-hours work at times of catastrophic event or major incidents

External Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field and at least 8 years of experience in machinery and systems automation OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 11 years of experience in machinery and systems automation.
- At least 7 years of experience utilizing forensic analysis tools and techniques.
- Experience working with short project deadlines when needed to keep production on schedule.
- Experience working with automation systems, PLCs, server networks, and related software.
- Experience solving problems and conducting detailed and documented technical investigations.
- Experience analyzing automated machinery and systems, preparing comprehensive documentation/reports and presenting findings.
- Willing to work off-hours, when necessary, such as during times of catastrophic production events or major incidents.
- At least 5 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
- At least 5 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or crossfunctional team leadership.
- Willing to travel up to/at least 15% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Familiarity with legal and regulatory aspects of forensic engineering.
- Certification in forensic engineering or a related field.
- Expertise in fulfillment automation
