This Principal Should Cost Engineer will be responsible for developing should cost estimates for large, complex AP1000, AP300 and eVinci structures and equipment by developing custom cost prediction algorithms specific to the nuclear industry. Outputs from the program will be used as data points for key negotiations with suppliers to drive down cost for materials, labor and other fabrication considerations. Strong relationship skills are required to manage organizational needs, project timelines, and resource management to provide timely and innovative solutions to meet business objectives. We will consider a US Remote candidate for this role, with some travel to our HQ location in Cranberry Township, PA required.

Your Day to Day:
- Gathers data from various sources, cleans and amalgamates it.
- Use statistical and mathematical modeling and programming skills to analyze large volumes of data and develop libraries of algorithms to predict cost data including materials, manufacturing operations, test operations, quality management operations, and other processes necessary to establish a cost estimate for a variety of nuclear components and services.
- Use the cost libraries to build should cost estimates by leading cross functional product teams and suppliers to identify the key cost driving parameters needed for the cost model.
- Support category management and supplier negotiation teams to use should cost analysis in playbook negotiations which will lead to business awards tied to Long Term Agreements (LTA).
- Collaborate with external and internal resources to identify component and process cost drivers, establish should cost estimates and identify cost reduction opportunities
- Maintain extensive Should Costing knowledge by researching and tracking industry trends, best practices, applicable indices, and competitive offerings to identify opportunities for innovation, competitive advantage, and increased overall productivity.
- Develop a productive working relationship with cross functional groups: Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Procurement
- Identify, secure and manage 3rd party suppliers as needed to develop the overall Should Costing Program.
Who You Are:
- BS degree required, MS preferred in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, or Mathematics and Statistics.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in either should cost estimating, manufacturing process planning, mathematics and statistics.
- SAVE international certification not Required but a plus
- High Level of Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint. Ideal Candidate will have proficiency in MS Access, Project, and Visio. Ability to program in VBA, Python, R or other open-source code languages.
- Experience in product lifecycle management (PLM) and enterprise resource management tools (ERP).
- Ability to translate engineering drawings and specifications into manufacturing process plans in order to quantify for cost estimate.
- Previous experience in Boothroyd and Dewhurst Design for Assembly and Concurrent Costing, SEER, aPriori, or other should cost analysis software a plus.
