Job Purpose:

The Test Manager in the insurance domain is responsible for planning, managing, and overseeing all testing activities to ensure the successful delivery of software and systems related to insurance products and services. The role requires a deep understanding of both testing methodologies and the unique requirements of the insurance industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test Strategy & Planning:
    • Develop and implement the overall test strategy, ensuring alignment with business and technical requirements within the insurance domain.
    • Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, and developers to define testing scope and objectives, focusing on insurance applications.
    • Design and document test plans, including test cases, test data, and test environments tailored to insurance workflows such as claims processing, underwriting, and policy administration.
  • Test Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of test engineers, ensuring quality and timeliness in execution.
    • Oversee end-to-end testing processes including system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), and regression testing for insurance products.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure adequate test coverage and address any defects or issues during the testing lifecycle.
  • Risk & Issue Management:
    • Identify potential risks in the testing process and proactively manage them.
    • Track and resolve any testing issues that arise, communicating effectively with stakeholders in the insurance and IT teams.
  • Test Automation:
    • Lead the implementation of automated testing tools and frameworks for repetitive insurance business processes.
    • Ensure the maintenance and optimization of test automation scripts specific to insurance systems.
  • Stakeholder Communication:
    • Act as the key point of contact between the testing team and other departments (such as underwriting, claims, or finance) to align testing with insurance product goals.
    • Provide regular progress reports and testing metrics to senior management and project stakeholders.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure that all testing processes adhere to relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, Solvency II) that impact insurance systems.
    • Validate that the final product meets the expected quality standards before deployment.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a test management role, with a focus on insurance industry projects (property & casualty insurance preferred).
    • Proven experience with testing insurance-related applications such as claims systems, policy administration, underwriting platforms, or broker portals.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Deep knowledge of testing methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) and best practices in the insurance sector.
    • Proficiency with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail) and test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, QTP).
    • Experience in API testing, performance testing, and security testing.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage teams and liaise with stakeholders.
    • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and address complex issues within insurance workflows.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
    • ISTQB certification or other relevant test management certifications are preferred.
