The Microsoft Research Systems and Foundations organization (Redmond, WA) is a vibrant, cross-disciplinary group focused on changing the world through ambitious, foundational research and its application at Microsoft and the wider world. We are recruiting across a wide variety of disciplines, including datacenter networking, distributed systems, formal methods and verification, high performance computing, ML Systems, operations research, operating systems, programming languages, storage systems, systems reliability, systems security and software engineering. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • PhD (or currently pursuing) in Computer Science or Computer Science Engineering

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A research program demonstrated by journal and conference publications.
  • Firm understanding of state-of-the-art in software systems and software engineering.
  • Demonstrable ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • A PhD that was focused on any one of the following core areas of research: datacenter networking, distributed systems, formal methods and verification, high performance computing, ML Systems, operations research, operating systems, programming languages, storage systems, systems reliability, systems security and software engineering.

Research Sciences IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
