Core Technical Skills

  1. Mainframe Environment

    • IBM z/OS, TSO/ISPF

    • JCL (Job Control Language)

    • DB2 / VSAM / CICS knowledge

  2. REXX Scripting

    • Writing and debugging REXX scripts for test automation

    • Integration of REXX with JCL, ISPF, and panels

  3. Automation Tools

    • CA-7 / Control-M (for job scheduling)

    • IBM Rational tools (like RIT)

    • Selenium (if hybrid environments involved)

    • Automation frameworks built for green screen testing

  4. Test Management Tools

    • HP ALM / Quality Center

    • Jira / Zephyr

    • TestRail or similar tools

  5. Batch and Online Testing

    • Automating both batch jobs and online CICS transactions

    • End-to-end test scenario validation

      Domain & Functional Knowledge

      • Banking, insurance, or healthcare domain understanding (commonly seen in mainframe systems)

      • Experience in analyzing mainframe applications and test requirements

      Testing Expertise

      • Test planning, strategy, and execution for mainframe systems

      • Regression testing, functional testing, and system integration testing

      • Test data management for mainframe applications

      Soft Skills / Other Tools

      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

      • Good communication (especially for reporting and test coordination)

      • Familiarity with DevOps practices in mainframe (e.g., Git, Jenkins for mainframe, Topaz)
