Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Papermaking Process Technology Developer to identify new opportunities, conduct experimental evaluations in a bench and pilot setting, and scale-up commercially to assess full-scale feasibility. You'll find this role very fulfilling if you enjoy exploring fuzzy front-end opportunities and figuring out how to reduce them to practice creating value for GP.

Our Team

Our Technology Platform team in Neenah, WI takes a holistic view of innovation and develops technical solutions to solve for future product and operational needs. We integrate Paper manufacturing with Fiber production and Finished Product converting to ensure our solutions solve the specific needs of each step in the production process. In this Platform role, while focused on Papermaking, you'll work across touchpoints throughout manufacturing and support product lines spanning tissue, towel, napkin, plates and cups.

Hybrid work options will be considered, and work location flexibility is encouraged. You'll be required to be in Neenah ~50% of the time, an average of 25% travel (0-2 weeks a month), with the balance available to work from home or corporate location of your choice.

What You Will Do

Market Analysis and Competitive Landscaping: Develop an understanding of how GP competes successfully in the marketplace, which partnerships will advance our interests, as well as IP and sourcing strategies to protect our market position.

Innovation: Partner with research and development peers to evaluate concepts, scale them up, and implement them commercially. Experimental design, data analysis, and papermaking process knowledge are foundational.

Manufacturing Support: Provide technical assistance to GP's manufacturing sites to resolve operational issues and support continuous improvement efforts.

Teacher/Coach/Mentor: Develop knowledge and skills in others, from new hires to experienced professionals. Create passion in others for the subject matter to improve bench strength.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. 5+ years of experience in a research, engineering, or operations role with papermaking technology as a focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently identify technology candidates, assess technical and financial feasibility, and reduce to practice commercially.
  • Able to travel an average of 25%.
  • Experience working with R&D staff on trials and projects.
