Position Title: R&D Mechatronics Engineer or Robotics/Automation Engineer
Location: Campbell, CA onsite 5 days a week
Length of Contract : 6 months to start, possible conversion to full time employee
Process: Two Onsite interview. (1st round 1-hour/ 90 minutes).

Scope: Client is looking for a Mechatronics Engineer to help them continuously optimize and improve their current procedures and processes. Client has a proprietary Nasa-approved dry adhesive that is used in research, experimentation, and design, etc. Smaller company so client is looking for someone capable of conducting hands-on work of building products and carrying concepts from ideation to realization, developing custom tools and fixtures, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Day to day will include a litany of manufacturing, machining, and designing duties utilizing CAD. Client is using Fusion 360, a cloud hosted, subscription-based model.
- Candidate will work directly with the Head of Engineering to define, develop, and implement continuous process improvements to existing manufacturing operations. Candidate will not be performing direct manufacturing duties, but will help prep client for automating their manufacturing line by designing and building machines, automated processes, etc.
- Develop standardized methods and procedures to improve manufacturing line efficiency to include internally published work instructions, SOPs, and R&D reports
- Provide recommendations on design and manufacturing procedures leading to new product launches
- Prototyping and testing of new tooling, fixtures, methods, and production concepts
- Perform evaluation and characterization of atypical materials.
Skills (Most important in bold):
- Mechatronics/Robotics/Automation Background in (R&D)
- Ability to build, prototype, machines that will help automate manufacturing operations
- Programming skills for robotics/automation: C++, or Python, or PLC programming, etc.
- Experience with process development/process improvement (team effort) writing SOPS, formalizing and standardizing processes through documentation, etc. Good technical writing is crucial here.
- Organize and conduct cross-functional sub-team meetings and present regular updates
- Proven record within a manufacturing environment
- Solid foundational knowledge of GMP
- Knowledgeable in current manufacturing industry techniques and practices
- An interest in early-stage development of a novel technology into a diverse product mix
- Experience with CAD/CAM/FEA software
- Prototyping experience, to include tools such as CNC, laser cutter, 3D printer, etc.
- Proficient in creating, reviewing, and editing of relevant technical documents
