OA-ETSO is seeking a Cisco Wireless Engineer.
37.5 hours per week
Up to 3 days on-site as needed in Harrisburg office
Only candidates who live in Pennsylvania will be considered
We are seeking a skilled Cisco Wireless Engineer to review, redesign, and implement innovative wireless solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in wireless network engineering, particularly with Cisco technologies.
Core Competencies and Skills
Cisco Wireless Technologies: Deep understanding of Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs), Access Points (APs), and associated technologies (e.g., RF management, mobility, security).
Wireless Protocols: Proficiency in IEEE 802.11 standards (a/b/g/n/ac/ax), Wi-Fi Alliance certifications (e.g., Wi-Fi CERTIFIED), and their applications.
Network Design and Implementation: Ability to design, plan, and implement complex wireless networks, including site surveys, RF planning, and AP placement.
Troubleshooting and Optimization: Expertise in diagnosing and resolving wireless network issues, optimizing performance (e.g., RF interference, channel utilization, roaming), and ensuring high availability.
Security: Knowledge of wireless security best practices, including WPA/WPA2(3) encryption, and guest access.
Automation and Orchestration: Familiarity with network automation tools and orchestration platforms (e.g., Cisco DNA Center) for efficient network management.
Documentation: Ability to create and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation of network configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
Technical Skills and Certifications
Cisco Certifications: CCNP Wireless or higher is preferred.
Wireless Certifications: CWNP certifications (e.g., CWAP, CWSP) are advantageous.
Network Protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, RADIUS.
Operating Systems: Proficiency in Windows, macOS, and Linux environments.
Network Management Tools: Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Wireshark).
Soft Skills
Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop effective solutions.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

RF Planning: Conduct RF surveys, analyze propagation models, and optimize AP placement for optimal coverage and capacity.
Mobility Management: Implement and troubleshoot mobility features (e.g., roaming, load balancing) to ensure seamless user experience.
Vendor Management: Coordinate with wireless vendors for hardware procurement, support, and maintenance.
Security Compliance: Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations (e.g., PCI DSS, HIPAA) related to wireless security.
