Robert Half is searching for a Data Center Technician for a Real Estate and Financial Services clients for a role based out of Tukwila, Washington. The primary responsibility of this Data Center Technician is managing data center installation and decommissioning system and network hardware. This is a long-term contract (6+ months) with potential to convert into an FTE. All mileage and accommodations will be covered/reimbursed for traveling.
Locations of travel will primarily be in Tukwila and Seattle, WA.
Quincy, WA once a month. An initial training in New Jersey will be required.
Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 5PM to 2AM (Hours will vary and must be flexible)
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the coordination of trade, material ordering and delivery schedules to ensure quality of installation
- Manages installation requests from initiation to closure
- Develop Method of Procedures (MOP) for single mode fiber installs
- Reviews all outstanding ticket requests(ServiceNow) on a daily basis
- Perform equipment troubleshooting as needed
- Server/switch/router deployments
- Fiber optic installation and testing experience
- Extend circuits from the demarcation point to client s equipment and participated in conference calls to troubleshoot and confirm connectivity.
- Perform network cable installs using patch panels and label standards (copper, MM/SM fiber).
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues using cable analyzers (Fluke).
- Triage and decommission servers/network equipment.
- Manage storage of high volume of decommissioned devices, labeled and recorded information in Excel.
- Implement new patch panel infrastructure needs and placement.
- Responsible for virtual database population of devices and connections.
- At least 3 years of experience in a dedicated Data Center Technician role
- Proficiency with handling, cleaning and installing Fiber Optic cables
- Skilled in determining single-mode and mutli-mode SFP connections
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel (formulas and Pivot Tables are a plus!)
- Prior experience working within a ticketing system (managing a queue, documentation, etc.)
- Nice to have: experience leading projects and vendor communication
