Job Details

Job Title: Senior Solutions Architect
Duration: 6-month contract
Location: Portland, OR (hybrid or remote)
Pay Range: $67.74 $70.97 per hour

The Senior Solutions Architect will support Grant Management Technology Solutioning, Technical Debt work, and preparation for Data Stage Migration. This role will work closely with business partners and technical teams to evaluate vendor solutions, design scalable cloud architectures, and implement automation frameworks. The position requires strong expertise in AWS, cloud data solutions, and DevOps/ML Ops practices.

Position Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with business partners to assess Grant Management Software vendors, develop capability matrices, and conduct vendor evaluations.
  • Analyze current and future state of Data Stage Jobs to build a Business Support Group (BSG) package for funding.
  • Lead Technical Debt initiatives, including DevOps, ML Ops, tagging, reliability, and Snowflake cost optimization in partnership with AWS Administrators.
  • Design and implement cloud-based (AWS) data solutions focusing on performance, scalability, and security.
  • Develop cloud data governance, security, and compliance strategies.
  • Apply serverless automation frameworks, DevOps/ML Ops/Data Ops tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Utilize scripting and automation tools such as Python, Bash, Terraform, or CloudFormation for cloud-based integrations.
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies and tools for scalable data architectures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, data engineers, DevOps, and cloud security teams.
  • Provide technical guidance on migrating legacy data systems (e.g., DataStage) to cloud-native solutions like AWS Glue, Redshift, and Snowflake.
  • Define and document architectural guidelines, standards, and best practices.
  • Apply expertise in ETL/ELT processes, data modeling techniques, and metadata management tools.
  • Integrate AI/ML capabilities into business applications to drive automation and innovation.
  • Ensure system performance, cost efficiency, and adherence to security best practices.

Position Requirements
  • 5-7 years of experience in cloud architecture and data solutions.
  • Hands-on expertise in AWS architecture and services, including IAM, EC2, S3, RDS, and SageMaker.
  • Strong knowledge of architecture and solution assessment.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with cloud architectural patterns and frameworks.
  • Proficiency in DevOps/ML Ops automation using Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Understanding of metadata management, data dictionaries, and data lineage tracking.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional teamwork.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Snowflake certification preferred.

  • AWS architecture along with AWS Services hands-on knowledge
  • Architecture and Solution Assessment
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Nice-to-Have Skills:
  • Working experience with cloud architectural patterns and frameworks
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS services, especially IAM, EC2, S3, RDS, and SageMaker
  • DevOps/ML Ops Automation (Terraform, CloudFormation)
