As a Network and Systems Administrator in our multi-company manufacturing organization, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network infrastructure and systems to support our diverse operational needs across different entities. You will collaborate with various teams to ensure seamless communication, efficient data flow, and optimal system performance while adhering to industry standards and best practices.

A wide-range of responsibilities offers new challenges every day:

Network and Data Center Infrastructure:

  • Install and configure hardware components, including servers, network switches, patch panels, and cable management systems, in accordance with design specifications and industry best practices.
  • Ensure seamless integration of hardware components to optimize network performance and reliability.
  • Manage the installation and organization of network cabling, including copper and fiber optic cables, to maintain reliable connectivity and minimize cable congestion.
  • Implement structured cabling solutions to facilitate easy troubleshooting and future scalability of the network infrastructure.
  • Configure and oversee power distribution units (PDUs), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) to provide reliable power to data center equipment and prevent downtime.
  • Implement redundant power systems and backup solutions to ensure continuous operation during power outages or fluctuations.
  • Conduct regular maintenance tasks, including equipment inspections, firmware updates, and hardware replacements, to uphold the reliability and longevity of data center infrastructure.
  • Schedule and perform routine maintenance activities to prevent potential issues and optimize the performance of network hardware and infrastructure components.

Systems Administration:

  • Administer and maintain servers, storage systems, and virtualization platforms to support various manufacturing processes, enterprise applications, and data management systems.
  • Implement and manage Active Directory services, user accounts, permissions, and group policies to ensure smooth authentication and access control.
  • Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups to safeguard data integrity and system availability.
  • Implement and maintain security protocols, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls to protect network and system assets from unauthorized access, cyber threats, and malware attacks.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001, NIST) related to network and system security.

Collaboration and Support:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, and engineering to understand business requirements and provide technical solutions aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users, resolving issues related to network connectivity, system performance, and application functionality.
  • Document network configurations, system architecture, and troubleshooting procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with 6+ years of experience.
  • Proven experience in network engineering, systems administration, or a related role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, MCSA, MCSE, or equivalent is desirable.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency in network protocols and technologies (DNS, SMTP, TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, etc.) and network equipment (Aruba, Cisco, HPE, Pure Storage, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems, server administration, and virtualization platforms (VMware).
  • Experience with enterprise-grade security solutions, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Active Directory, Azure AD, SQL Server administration, IIS, Microsoft Office, and PowerShell.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new technologies and software systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.

Travel Requirements:

  • Some travel within The Village companies between Pulaski and other Village company entity locations may be necessary.
