Job Description
Maintains medical and clinical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Plan and current asset management software. Consistently demonstrates strong skills and tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of complex biomedical equipment and interconnected systems (VLAN, isolated network and Mayo network). Individuals in this position must be highly customer focused with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Individuals must have an exceptional technical skillset, comprehensive clinical knowledge and be able to work with minimal supervision on a regular basis. Also must be capable of giving in-service education for clinical and technical staff on critical medical devices and systems, and serve as a professional coach/mentor for clinical and HTM staff on an as needed basis. On-call and overtime is often required as well as travel to other Mayo Clinic sites. A Healthcare Engineering Technician 3 will typically have a degree in biomedical electronics with 3 years of proven successful service of a diverse spectrum of medical equipment, or alternative degrees with more than five years of proven successful service of a diverse spectrum of medical equipment.
Qualifications
Must have one of the below:
AAMI ACI Certification. Advanced technical and/or OEM training. Knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, biology, and medical terminology. Comprehensive understanding of test tools needed to perform medical equipment maintenance. Understanding of common clinical terminology used in a hospital or clinic. Comprehensive Knowledge of networks, computer hardware, computer software, and computer security. Advanced level of professionalism.
Authorization to work and remain in the United States, without necessity for Mayo Clinic sponsorships now, or in the future (for example, ====, national, or permanent resident, refugee, or asylee). Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

- Associate of Applied Science degree from a Biomedical Electronics Program or a Bachelor's degree in a Biomedical Engineering Technology and 3 years of medical equipment service experience in a healthcare environment
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, electronics, or other related technology fields and 5 years of medical equipment service experience in a healthcare environment
- Associate Degree in electronics, electrical engineering, or related technology fields and 5 years of medical equipment service experience in a healthcare environment
- US Military Training in Biomedical Electronics and 3 years of medical equipment service experience in a healthcare environment.
