Systems Integration Engineer

System Integration Engineer in Caterpillar s Electrification & Advanced Power Solutions Division. This position will work with experienced electric powertrain technical leads to understand customer, business, and regulation requirements and have accountability for developing ePowertrain solutions for construction and mining equipment to meet emissions reduction goals.

Electric Powertrain Solutions team within Electrification Division. This team sits out of Mossville, IL and has a core team of technical project leads and integration engineers. This will be an integration engineer supporting a tech lead in concept design, coordinating simulation, conducting packaging work with physical components in chassis, cable routing, planning validation activities, supporting machine builds and machines conversions, issue resolution and troubleshooting, data analysis, etc. They collect requirements from product groups and translate them into technical specs for components that are either developed in house or by suppliers. Will be doing some work in the Tech Center to support lab work. Heavy collaboration with product groups within CAT. Will be doing some spreadsheet development of calculation tools. Will be interrogating 3d models in CREO. Some creating electrical schematics in CREO. They use Matlab/Simulink, PSpice, etc for light simulation.

Job Responsibilities:
- Develop electrified powertrain concepts
- Identify design/development leverage opportunities
- Optimize systems through simulation
- Conduct trade-off analysis using key metrics (performance, TCO, R&D investment).
- Complete detailed system design activities, in concert with component design owners
- Support development builds and validation
- Troubleshoot electric powertrain systems to resolve electrical and mechanical component and system challenges

90% in office, 10% in lab
