Financial Management Information Systems (FMIS) Business Analyst
Location: Maryland, United States
Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Financial Management Information Systems Business Analyst to join our team in Maryland. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of relevant experience in analyzing, designing, and implementing financial systems solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of financial concepts, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to optimize financial processes.
Responsibilities:

  1. System Analysis: Review and analyze existing financial systems, processes, and data to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
  2. Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, document, and prioritize business requirements for financial system enhancements.
  3. Solution Design: Translate business needs into technical specifications and design efficient and effective financial management information system solutions,
  4. System Implementation: Lead or support the implementation of new financial systems, including configuration, testing, and deployment activities.
  5. User Training: Develop training materials and conduct user training sessions to ensure proper system understanding and adoption.
  6. System Support: Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for financial systems, addressing user issues and ensuring system functionality.
  7. Data Management: Ensure data integrity and accuracy within financial systems, including data migration, validation, and reconciliation.
  8. Compliance and Security: Ensure financial systems comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices for data security and privacy.
  9. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and optimization within financial management processes.
  10. Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with business stakeholders, IT teams, and management to ensure alignment on system requirements and project status.

These responsibilities are crucial for a Financial Management Information Systems Business Analyst to effectively assess, design, implement, and support financial systems that meet the organization's needs and drive operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Master s degree or relevant certifications (such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)) are highly desirable.
  • 5-7 of experience as a Financial Management Information Systems Business Analyst.
  • Strong knowledge of financial principles, accounting practices, and financial reporting.
  • Experience in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and financial software applications.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.

Desired:

  • Experience with financial regulatory compliance (e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley Act, GDPR).
  • Knowledge of Maryland state financial regulations and reporting requirements is a plus.
  • Ability to travel to Bethesda, MD occasionally for meetings, training, or conferences.
