A top-tier Oil & Energy company based in Las Colinas, TX is seeking a talented Network Engineer to join their team in a full-time, direct hire role. As one of the nation's largest privately held independent energy companies, they offer a dynamic and impactful work environment.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Cisco technologies, including Catalyst, Nexus, and Meraki. This role also requires expertise in building and managing Palo Alto firewalls, along with a solid understanding of load balancing solutions.
This role supports a 24/7/365 operational environment where both planned and unplanned downtime must be minimized. As a result, systems are designed with high levels of redundancy and resiliency. Experience working in such high-availability environments is essential. Required Skills & Experience
- Strong focus on network design and configuration as part of day-to-day responsibilities
- Ability to design, implement, manage, monitor, and troubleshoot routers, switches, and firewalls
- Collaborate effectively with end users, internal teams, and external vendors
- Provide mentorship and guidance to fellow network engineers
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and clearly communicate progress and outcomes to peers, leadership, and stakeholders
- Offer informed recommendations on hardware and software purchases to support evolving business needs
- Consistent, dependable attendance is essential
- Perform additional duties as needed
Desired Skills & Experience
- Advanced knowledge of OSPF and BGP routing protocols
- Experience with scripting and automation tools such as Ansible and Python
- Familiarity with VMware networking
- Hands-on experience with SD-WAN solutions
- Strong Cisco networking background (ACI experience is a plus, but not required)
- Experience with Fortinet and Palo Alto firewalls
- Proven ability in designing and managing complex network architectures
- Expertise in TCP/IP protocol and packet-level analysis
- Skilled in designing and troubleshooting routing protocols, particularly BGP and OSPF
- AWS networking experience is a strong plus
- Background in supporting large-scale VPN and WAN environments
- In-depth understanding of networking, internet, and routing technologies across all layers
- Full-time, salary will range from $110-130K depending on experience
- Eligible for a bonus that will also range from 5-10% depending on performance
