Your role and responsibilities

Works independently to install, modify, test, repair or inspect company products and equipment including, but not limited to: low voltage and medium voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, protection relays and Automation systems\nPerforms or coordinates complex and diverse engineering activities associated with field projects\nInterprets technical drawings and schematics and makes changes as necessary in the field to reflect work carried out on site\nIncreases product and technical knowledge through factory or third party training, technical manuals, and conventional or non conventional resources\nProvides technical advice to customers on site and remotely\nWorks closely with project managers to coordinate site activity. Assume the role of site manager on some projects\nProvides leadership in the assembly and operation of lab and field service equipment\nRecords, compiles, and reduces data for analysis and assists in the subsequent assessment and reporting\nLeads assigned field services: responsible for planning, analysis, and reporting of projects ranging in complexity from simple to advanced\nAssumes the role of a mentor or an advisor to less experienced company personnel and customers\nEnsures quality and safe operations in the field\nReports opportunities and problems to management\nPrepares timesheets, service reports, expense reports and other documents immediately following the work assignment\nPromotes to customers ways to optimize their operations or make general improvements\nAssists the business development unit with technical knowledge for generating quotations and proposals
Qualifications for the role

  • Associate's Degree in engineering or other technical field and minimum 5 years experience in marine power generation and power distribution with a focus on circuit breaker and switchgear maintenance
  • Alternately a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments
  • Strong knowledge of protection relays and excitation
  • Familiarity with marine/offshore work environment and procedures
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
