We are seeking a full-time DevOps Team Leader in our Cary, NC location. In this role, you will lead a team of DevOps engineers that own the applications used to deliver software releases and variants for multiple Garmin products.

We are seeking a full-time DevOps Team Leader in our Cary, NC location. In this role, you will lead a team of DevOps engineers that own the applications used to deliver software releases and variants for multiple Garmin products.
Essential Functions
- Directly supervise various levels of software team members (first line manager) by setting the tone for the team environment and providing individualized coaching, training and mentoring
- Integrate tools and solutions with each other for comprehensiveness and ease of use by software development teams.
- Work with other Garmin teams owning the entire ecosystem to ensure viability and high-availability of our solutions.
- Support proper usage of solutions via documentation, training, and leadership.
- Provide team with equipment, tools, and information needed to do their jobs with maximum efficiency and manage team schedules, effort, head count and expenses
- Execute department and engineering processes/policies and recommend improvements
- Align team on department goals and drive accountability to achieve results
- Collaborate with other Garmin teams to improve cross-functional communication and productivity as well as track and distribute information
- Participate in recruiting activities, interview, hire, train, and evaluate performance for the team
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics or related field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR a minimum of 10 years relevant experience
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
- Demonstrated experience leading a technical team (as a first line manager)
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Must be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to interact with stakeholders in a professional and timely manner
- Ability to effectively learn and apply appropriate standards, technologies, and processes
Desired Qualifications
- Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
- Experience with Jenkins and/or Zuul Continuous Integration applications
- Experience with Site Reliability Engineering practices
- Experience with Continuous Delivery and Deployment concepts, pipelines, and applications
- Experience in tool and test automation
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, Gerrit, and SQL
- Experience with a Configuration Management tool, e.g. Ansible, Chef, Puppet
- Comfortable working with both Windows and Linux
- Container/orchestrator technology, e.g. Docker/Kubernetes
- Experience with ELK, Kibana, Grafana, or other analytic technology. Cloud technology, e.g. OpenStack, Amazon AWS, Cloud Foundry
