Location/Division Specific Information

Located just a few miles outside of Madison in Fitchburg, Wisconsin, the Vibrational Spectroscopy business segment specializes in developing spectroscopy products such as FTIR, NIR, and Raman solutions. Our products have applications in university research, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and food manufacturing industries. With R&D, manufacturing, and marketing all co-located on our business campus, we foster a collaborative environment. Our team is dedicated to developing solutions that promote a world that is healthier, cleaner, and safer.

How will you make an impact?

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a team member to develop software for our FTIR, NIR, and Raman products. As part of an agile scrum team, you'll play a crucial role in crafting an outstanding user experience for customers worldwide.

What will you do?

  • Perform all phases of software development including design, implementation, testing, integration, maintenance, and software release for our spectroscopy product portfolio.
  • Participate in code, design, and test plan reviews.
  • Collaborate within the Agile development methodologies and promote best techniques.
  • Collaborate with your team to plan and complete software features for new products.
  • Use your knowledge of spectroscopy to design software and algorithms that interact with FT-IR, NIR and Raman spectrometers and microscopes.


How will you get here?

Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, chemistry, or a related technical field.

Experience
  • 5+ years in software product development.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft development environments including C# and the .NET Framework; experience with multi-threaded development is desirable.
  • Strong software development skills with a focus on scientific instrumentation.
  • Enjoys solving problems and developing improved solutions.
  • Interest in science and knowledge of basic scientific principles.
  • Knowledge of spectroscopy and spectrometers.
  • Familiarity with agile software development concepts and tools such as JIRA.
  • Desire and ability to work in a software team that is part of a multi-disciplinary development effort.
  • Highly motivated teammate with a desire for continuous learning.
