This Senior Software Engineer position is part of the lottery division engineer team at Scientific Games. Your work on this team will help enable the funding of good causes like education, health care, senior citizens, roads, bridges, state parks and trails as well as the environment.

Joining this team, you will be among peers in professional engineering that report up in small groups to a Software Development Manager. You will find these teams are made up of career minded professionals that have chosen to be in the lottery industry.

In addition to the good causes lottery's fund, lottery in general has proven to perform well through recessions. Even in 2020, we experienced growth in some verticals within the lottery division.

The ideal candidate has strong SQL skills, able to write their own efficient stored procedures and ASP.Net engineering skills interacting with both JavaScript and or angular scripting. you will need to be able to work both independently and as part of a team that works on complex systems with engineering challenges.

Your domain will be a MS SQL server that is a foundation for ASP.net web pages and SSRS reports that help Lottery's and its retails with reporting and configuration of their systems and their sales. Operations teams will depend on the software you write and maintain.

The day-to-day job is to implement changes, support production, analyze data and ways to report on it and when needed convert data and implement new systems.

Job Duties / Key Accountabilities

  • Design, Code and debug source code.
  • Convert data from legacy or competitor's systems for implementation projects
  • Given requirements, document, suggest and design solutions
  • Participate in the requirements gathering phase of development projects.
  • Participate in code reviews as needed.
  • Occasionally participate in the support of production lottery systems when issues arise as an engineering expert.
  • Once COVID travel restrictions are lifted the position can have up to travel 15% or less.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications / Skills / Knowledge

Required
  • BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8 or more years programming experience writing your own T-SQL and stored procedures.
  • 8 or more years programming experience SQL server.
  • 8 or more years programming experience with ASP.net.
  • Experience with Web services, AJAX, XML.
  • Experience with SSRS.

  • Good software estimation skills
  • VB. Net/ C# .Net
  • Reporting on financials
  • Working with invoicing systems
  • OpenSSL use for Encryption/Decryption
  • Lottery industry experience a big plus
  • Data conversion experience a big plus
