General Summary/Overview Statement

Reports to the Medical Imaging Informatics (MI2) Business Analyst Senior Manager and is responsible for facilitating clinical and operational excellence within enterprise Imaging systems. Technical Business Analyst acts as the key liaison between the operational and clinical community and Enterprise teams. They will use their knowledge of Imaging Modalities, application functionality, system processes and clinical workflows to provide exceptional customer support and troubleshooting.

This position entails IT support and working closely with the Clinical and Operational Leadership to diagnose system issues, optimize workflows, and implement requested changes in a highly matrixed environment. The role is primarily focused on the implementation of Imaging Modalities and will be responsible for obtaining business and vendor requirements while coordinating with multiple teams throughout the implementation process. They will need to establish or work within established enterprise governance processes and leverage platform strategy. The Technical Business Analyst will work closely with operational staff to implement and maintain documentation systems. They will work closely with staff at all levels across MGB, external vendors and collaborators across Digital. This includes providing end user support, eliciting business requirements, and working with the system build teams to implement enhancements and improvements that benefit the Epic end user community.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

The Technical Business Analyst role includes, but is not limited to, a comprehensive understanding of and responsibility for the following areas:

Human Capital Management:

Collaborates and communicates effectively with colleagues and other MGB personnel to facilitate day to day operations as well as furthering the educational mission of Medical Imaging Informatics.

Business and System Integration Analysis

Represents Imaging within the MGB Digital Governance Model

Facilitates Imaging Modality connectivity with Epic (Modality Worklist), Fac/Org/SER and FDD build requests and associated workflow development

Discover all imaging modalities used clinically and for research (and those planned to be installed).

Maintain IT/PACS documentation in Enterprise modality DB. Document the configuration (including security implemented) and purpose of the device.

Plans and executes functional, user acceptance and integration testing of Enterprise Imaging and Digital systems

Analyzes impacts to department workflows

Communicates changes to departmental leadership and operations

Supports and educates end users with Imaging Modality implementations, upgrades, moves and configuration changes.

Provide high quality service to users, according to defined service level agreements

Identify and resolve complex imaging modality issues (Tier 3 support), escalating them as needed for timely resolution.

Conduct Digital Technology Reviews and Assessment related to imaging modalities and associated systems.

Understands user requirements; translates them to functional requirements and assists end users with Imaging Modality requests.

DICOM SR integration management across Imaging Modalities used in Radiology, Cardiology, and at the Point of Care.

Assist in identifying and recommending best practices for business analysis, training, and end user support functions

Assists manager in resource planning efforts for both project/program and support activities.

Recommend changes on discovered risks (Ransomware vulnerabilities)

Ensure compliance with MBG "managed exam attributes" that affect patient care (postprocessing, AI/ML/...)

Inventory and monitor imaging modality activity via TMS or other DB solution

Documenting modality protocols, configurations, vendor access and controlled software updates.

Support Radiology Command Center Technology, Butterfly Cloud & various other remote connectivity solutions related to remote modality connectivity.

Ensures all Departmental, Hospital, JC, OIG compliance guidelines are met.

Project Management

Responsible performing multiple roles (Project Manager, Test Manager, Training Manager, etc.) within projects.

Responsible for communicating to project sponsors, stakeholders, team members and Imaging Leadership relative project information.

Incorporates standard deliverables for "People", "Process", and "Technology" components for every project.

Owns the development, management and execution of Imaging Modality project plans as assigned.

Identifies and analyzes project risks and issues to formulate mitigation strategies and/or escalates project risks and issues to achieve resolution.

Works collaboratively with the Medical Imaging Informatics Leadership team and Project Office (PMO) to leverage existing methodologies and tools when managing and executing projects.

Participates in regular team meetings to discuss team and project/program related activities, issues, changes, and communication as needed

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required

5+ years of healthcare IT experience with a knowledge of clinical systems

3+ years of Business Analysis and/or Project Management specific to Enterprise Health Records (EHR) or Information Technology Implementation preferred

A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements

Radiology systems background desired

Epic Certification/Proficiency/Accreditation (Radiant or other) desired or may obtain Epic training as outlined by program requirement

Experience providing customer and/or end user support, preferably in a healthcare setting

Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required

Self-motivated, independent, and possessing the ability to learn quickly

Strong analytical and problem-solving and skills

Strong knowledge of DICOM and networking for imaging modalities

Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical staff.

Knowledge of clinical workflows, especially related to imaging, preferred

Ability to effectively translate business requirements to functional requirements

Ability to effectively conduct meetings, both formal and informal

Ability to prioritize and manage various tasks and timelines for both operational and project work

Ability to work within a team cooperatively and effectively

Familiarity with Imaging Information Systems and Epic

Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and other popular productivity solutions

Working Conditions

Primarily remote work

Occasional travel to Mass General Brigham offices for on-site meetings

Occasional travel to Mass General Brigham Imaging operational locations throughout the organization for support related to troubleshooting and new system implementations

Travel for training possible

Expected to work during core business hours between 8am-5pm, however this position may often require working flexible hours as priorities and projects dictate.

Supervisory Responsibility

No direct reports; provides guidance to less seasoned and new staff
