Azure Network Architect Richmond, VA
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement Azure-based networking solutions to support scalable and secure cloud architectures.
Develop hybrid connectivity solutions (e.g., ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway) between on-premises and Azure.
VWAN Implementation.
Lead the deployment and configuration of Azure Virtual Networks (VNets), Network Security Groups (NSGs), Azure Firewall, Load Balancers, and Application Gateways.
Collaborate with security teams to enforce cloud networking security and compliance.
Work with DevOps teams to enable secure, automated deployment pipelines in hybrid and cloud-native environments.
Conduct network performance monitoring, optimisation, and troubleshooting.
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery through appropriate network design.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to cloud engineers and network administrators.
Maintain network documentation and contribute to infrastructure-as-code (IaC) strategies using tools like Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
Stay updated on Azure networking innovations and best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
7+ years in networking with 3+ years in Azure cloud architecture.
Deep understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, IP routing, NAT, VPNs, and firewalls.
Hands-on experience with:
Azure Virtual WAN, Azure Route Server, Network Watcher
ExpressRoute and Site-to-Site VPNs
Load Balancing (Application and Network)
Azure Private Link, Service Endpoints, DNS Zones
Proficiency in PowerShell, Azure CLI, and/or scripting for automation.
Familiarity with Zero Trust networking principles.
Azure certifications preferred (e.g., Azure Network Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with multi-cloud networking (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud Platform).
Knowledge of SD-WAN solutions.
Strong understanding of BGP, OSPF, and enterprise routing protocols.
Experience in CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and infrastructure as code.
