100% Onsite role

Quality Technicians provide around-the-clock support of brewery operations by working 12- hour

shifts on a 4 X 4 rotating schedule as outlined below.

  • 6 am to 6 pm (4 days on followed by 4 consecutive days off) for 2 weeks,
  • 6 pm to 6 am (4 nights on followed by 4 consecutive nights off) for 2 weeks,
  • Repeat cycle.

Position overview:

Quality Technicians are an important part of Quality lab team operations and are responsible for safely collecting samples from brewing and packaging operations and accurately processing all samples as needed for timely analysis, data reporting, and critical decision making.

  • Quality Technicians adhere to all Safety, Department, Brewery, and Company policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Successful Quality Technicians are team players who take accountability for individual tasks, have a positive attitude, a customer service mindset, good time management skills, and a strong work ethic that aligns to values.

Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Consistent use of aseptic technique and adherence to Good Lab Practices,
  • Timely and accurate data search and entry using multiple databases and computer systems,
  • Appropriate use of two-way radios, personal CO2 monitors, laminar flow hoods, vacuum systems, autoclaves, aerobic incubators, anaerobic incubators, centrifuges, microscopes, pipettes, lab glassware, carts, tricycles, grab sample bottles, dishwashers, coolers, and freezers.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely and accurately collect samples as required throughout the brewery per sample guidelines
  • Safely process all required samples with compliance to sample plan guidelines and lab protocols and procedures for microbiology, chemistry, and sensory analysis
  • Safely and appropriately apply aseptic technique and utilize laboratory equipment such as laminar flow hoods, vacuum system, autoclave, aerobic incubators, anaerobic incubators, compressed gas, centrifuge, microscopes, thermometers, pipettes, coolers and freezers
  • Provide accurate and timely escalation of any process, product or equipment errors or problems
  • Accurately and frequently communicate with team members and customers to ensure all required lab tasks are completed in a timely fashion
  • Accurately create and interpret sample labels and report data as required
  • Adhere to all rules, regulations, policies, and programs established by the Quality
  • Management System, Quality Lab Department, Golden Brewery/ Valley
  • Collect and process samples as required throughout the brewery for microbiology and analytical analysis per sample guidelines
  • Safely and appropriately apply aseptic technique and utilize laboratory equipment such as laminar flow hoods, vacuum system, autoclave, aerobic incubators, anaerobic incubators, compressed gas, centrifuge, coolers, and freezers
  • Provide accurate and timely escalation of any process, product or equipment errors or problems

Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of aseptic technique and microbiology
  • Practical knowledge of laboratory equipment and laboratory safety
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Food and/or beverage manufacturing and/ or Quality lab experience beneficial
  • Physical ability to walk and stand for extended time, lift and carry a case of beer samples, use stairs and elevators frequently, and work in brewery environment (can include conditions from wet/cold to dusty/ hot)
  • Strong organizational, time management and planning skills
  • Flexibility with schedule as needed to support rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, vacation coverage and production requirements
