Position Summary

Reporting to the Principal Director in UCLA's Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) Media Production unit, the Post Production Specialist will support, develop, and enhance digital media products and workflows for developing course content and e-learning modules, towards advancing innovation and elevating teaching at UCLA. The Post Production Specialist (hereafter " Specialist ") will work closely with Principal Directors and Editors in the TLC recording studios to contribute to productions such as lecture videos, live events, and development of multimedia materials. The position will take a key role in the editing and post-production of instructional media to enhance and expedite the delivery of final productions. The Specialist will support the preparation, evaluation, and archival of media content in various formats for use with instructors or other departments. As a part of the larger Media Production team, the Specialist will collaborate with internal and external technology, operations, and creative teams to improve production workflows and develop technology-based solutions that drive efficiency at scale. The applicant will assist in the creation and enhancement of studio infrastructure that supports live and remote productions as well as editing systems that produce instructional media, such as learning glass, keying, lecture slides, immersive experiences, 3D models, and other learning asset types. The Specialist will also support the implementation of all software, hardware, and technology-enhanced solutions.

The incumbent will provide prompt and accurate documentation and troubleshooting practices for all technology used throughout the production process, including but not limited to image capture devices and servers. The ideal candidate possesses excellent production skills and is a problem solver with attention to aesthetic details critical to optimizing user experiences. The incumbent will maintain a flexible mindset with an inclusive vision for the teaching and learning environment and possess strong organizational skills. The Specialist works independently to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and create solutions to meet project goals as assigned. Performance is reviewed on an annual basis.

Salary & Compensation

*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and minimum of three years of professional design experience in multimedia. (Required)
  • Strong knowledge of current and emerging post-production technology & workflows. (Required)
  • Knowledge of post-production processes and timelines, including color correction, VFX, editorial, titling, and audio mixing. (Required)
  • Experience with remote workflows and software. (Required)
  • Knowledge of editing applications including but not limited to: Avid, Premiere, Resolve, Adobe CC, Final Cut Pro; ability to learn new applications as needed. (Required)
  • Experience with Operating Systems including but not limited to: MacOS, Windows, Ubuntu, Debian (Preferred)
  • Understanding of network file sharing protocols: NFS, SMB/CIFS (Preferred)
  • Experience with frame sequence render workflows (Preferred)
  • Knowledge in managing small to medium size active directory (Preferred)
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills; ability to organize complex projects with competing and/or multiple deadlines; ability to independently solve problems. (Required)
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse campus stakeholders. (Required)
  • May be eligible for remote or hybrid schedule. (Required)
