The Category Manager, IT will strategically align with corporate IT functional leaders and will manage all sourcing activities and supplier management related to our Enterprise IT strategy. The role will identify quality and service improvement and cost reduction opportunities; continuously improve procure-to-pay process; and facilitate supplier selection supported with data analytics. They will also own the strategic supplier relationships and provide complete day-to-day contract management for assigned categories.
Reports to the CIO and is based in our Ballwin, MO corporate headquarters. This is a fast-paced environment in a patient focused organization that continues to experience rapid growth.
Primary Function - Be accountable for the assigned sourcing activities across the Information Technology organization as it relates to the procurement of IT Infrastructure & Telecom products and services
- This role will involve the creation, market analysis, negotiation, and maintenance for IT specific activities around identifying a supplier, managing the competitive process and recommending a supplier that best meets the business objectives
- Manages execution and implementation of small to large sized sourcing initiatives
- Lead and manage the supplier qualification, RFP events, supplier selection, contract development, implementation, and ongoing supply base management process.
- Build and publish data models & spend reports for category stakeholders.
- Ensure outstanding internal customer service to help build a best-in-class service organization that is recognized as a trusted partner across the enterprise.
- Develop a deep understanding of the assigned categories and the supplier marketplace.
- Conduct business review meetings with key stakeholders to assess risk, review future strategies, and identify potential cost containment and improvement opportunities.
- Lead the development of preferred suppliers and good & services with business stakeholders and ensure effective spending controls to prevent out of compliance purchasing.
- Provide external industry benchmarking as well as cost and scenario analysis reporting to better assess strategy and solutions within assigned categories.
- Implement best practices for sourcing and supplier relationship management.
- Engage with 3rd party consultants as needed to supplement internal resources and accelerate cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Continuously challenge current state processes with data driven business cases and help build a continuous improvement culture.
- Lead supplier contract management process for all suppliers in assigned categories.
- Train and mentor other Procurement team members and stakeholders in corporate sourcing policy and procedures.
- Develop and publish metrics in support of savings and continuous improvement objectives.
Skills, Qualifications and Education
- Experience in dealing with dynamic requirements that are tied to strategic level business and information technology objectives
- Six to 10 years of progressive sourcing, account management, sales or customer operations experience within a large organization
- Previous IT experience within a larger organization is required.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, finance, or supply chain management
- Experience in ERP and procurement systems (SAP, JDE, Coupa, etc.)
- Experience in Eyecare, Healthcare, and/or Pharmaceutical industries preferred
- The ability to understand and utilize most procurement processes, tools, and systems.
- Proven track record of implementing change & increasing Procurement organizational influence.
- Strong negotiation and project management skills.
- Solid judgement with ability to make decisions backed by data and sound business cases.
