Job Description
Structural Engineering Supervisor
What you will do
For the day-to-day engineering responsibilities, leveraging your thorough knowledge of civil/structural design and engineering techniques, you will be responsible to plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. In addition, you will devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes and accepted engineering practices. Put a strong focus on achieving success for the above using Static, Dynamic, and Vibration FEA methods. Projects are for both internal (plant devices) and external (product) customers and require multi-discipline coordination.
For the supervisory responsibilities, the role will entail the technical and Human Resource (HR) oversight of the experienced structural engineers assigned to you. Ensure that sound, thorough, and consistent engineering practices are employed across the structural engineering group. Work with the Director of Engineering and Engineering Process Manager to formalize the process, procedures, design/calculation tools, and deliverable templates used/required of the structural engineering deliverables. Provide training, review, mentorship, and guidance to the assigned team members to achieve cost optimized designs while ensuring codes, standards, safety, quality, etc. are met. Specific focus on training the structural engineers on Static, Dynamic, and Vibrational FEA design.
