Key Responsibilities:
Storage Architecture Design:
- Design and architect scalable, high-performance storage solutions, including SAN, NAS, and object storage systems.
- Develop comprehensive storage strategies that support business goals, data growth, and disaster recovery.
Implementation and Management:
- Deploy, configure, and maintain storage systems and infrastructure, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Implement best practices for storage management, including provisioning, monitoring, and performance tuning.
Capacity Planning and Optimization:
- Analyze current and future storage capacity needs, forecasting growth and planning for resource allocation.
- Continuously monitor storage utilization and performance metrics, optimizing configurations for efficiency.
Data Protection and Recovery:
- Develop and implement data backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and availability.
- Conduct regular testing of disaster recovery plans to ensure effectiveness and compliance with business continuity requirements.
Security Management:
- Implement security best practices for storage environments, including encryption, access controls, and compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify vulnerabilities and ensure adherence to security policies.
Troubleshooting and Support:
- Provide expert-level support for storage-related issues, troubleshooting and resolving complex problems.
- Collaborate with IT teams to address cross-functional challenges and improve overall system reliability.
Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for storage architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Share knowledge and best practices with team members, providing training and mentorship as needed.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay current with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in storage solutions and data management.
- Evaluate new tools and technologies to enhance storage performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in storage engineering, architecture, or IT infrastructure roles.
- Proven experience with various storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, and cloud storage solutions.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of storage protocols (e.g., iSCSI, NFS, CIFS, Fibre Channel) and management tools.
- Experience with backup and recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam, CommVault, NetBackup).
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and their integration with storage systems.
- Certifications:
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Storage Networking Expert (CSNE), NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA), or equivalent are desirable.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with cloud storage solutions (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, Google Cloud Storage).
- Knowledge of data deduplication, compression, and tiered storage strategies.
- Familiarity with ITIL best practices and experience in change management processes.
