Job Details

ARA is seeking civil engineers with an interest and experience in pavement engineering to work full-time in our Transportation Infrastructure Division office in Austin, TX.

Our pavement engineers are actively involved in all aspects of the profession, which includes problem solving, using subject matter knowledge and innovation to offer high-quality solutions to our clients, marketing to bring in new business, and writing high-quality proposals.

This position requires travel to project sites and may include on-site work at client offices. Candidates must meet eligibility requirements for badging/access to project sites.

What you will do as a staff pavement engineer:
  • Continue to develop your subject matter expertise in pavement engineering, including pavement design, condition assessment, and pavement management.
  • Do what it takes to complete projects on time, on budget, and to interface with others to resolve any challenges.
  • Work with senior engineers and project managers to execute project work, including pavement design, pavement testing and analysis, and database management.
  • Work with technical staff to complete field work in professional manner with attention to accurate and complete reporting.
  • Be flexible, willing, and able to adapt to the demands of the project/task.
  • Participate in writing proposals in response to RFPs for existing and new lines of business.
  • Engage in marketing and networking activities at conferences and other industry gatherings.

Staff pavement engineer requirements:
  • BS in Civil Engineering, from an accredited U.S. institution. MS or higher preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in pavement engineering practice, such as pavement management and analysis of pavement condition survey data. Graduate/academic research work may be considered, if directly applicable.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills.
  • Experience in programming languages, database development, and/or GIS a plus.
