Efficiency, Performance & Systems team is mainly focused on following activities:

Vehicle / Systems Modelling
  • We develop and maintain an integrated vehicle performance model. This model can be used for analyses of existing and developing vehicle programs, for component analyses, and for controls development and tuning.
  • We validate models of components and subsystems against data to validate and correlate our libraries.
  • We support energy consumption / range homologation testing for all regions where Lucid sells products, as dictated by applicable regulations.
  • We support performance testing for all regions where Lucid sells products, confirming the applicable regulations.

General Vehicle Efficiency
  • We work to improve the efficiency and performance of existing products, through hardware and software changes.
  • We provide modeling and testing services to teams at Lucid to assess the impact of proposed changes.
  • We collaborate with engineering teams on new products to provide guidance during development to make sure we design the optimal products.

Role/Responsibilities:

This role will offer unique opportunity for interns who want to have both engineering & program management experience at Lucid. As an intern in the Efficiency, Performance and Systems group, you will get the opportunity to interface with cross-functional teams to improve the energy efficiency of Lucid vehicles. Additionally, you will get exposure to the program management world where you learn how to reach that point of testing & eventually close out projects. You will also get some exposure to analyzing data from the vehicle to understand its overall operation, system interactions and identify sources of efficiency improvement. Your day to day will require you to work on test vehicles for data collection, diagnosing any vehicle issues, set up a benchmark test plan, develop project timelines & coordinate resources to keep project on track.
  • Learn and assist in managing and developing project plans & execution timelines
  • Hands-on work to execute vehicle level energy consumption studies followed by data analysis identify any optimization strategies
  • Brainstorm & propose effective ways for project scheduling & monitoring using Jira dashboards or any other industry prevalent tool
  • Engage with cross functional teams to coordinate technical & non-technical discussions for project execution
  • Analyze real-world and chassis dyno test data and identify opportunities to improve vehicle efficiency

Day to Day Activities:
  • Lot of vehicle level interaction- Assist in diagnosis and root causing of issues observed on prototype vehicles
  • Learn and assist in managing and developing project plans
  • Lot of interaction with cross functional teams to ensure completion of the project

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong fundamental understanding of engineering concepts
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment
  • Self-starter, eager to learn and detail oriented
  • Strong organization & communication skills preferred

Education:
  • Field(s) of study: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's Degree program at an accredited university
  • Proof of enrollment in current or into next program (MS)

Program Information:
  • Timing: May- August, or June-September pending class schedules.
  • Duration of Internship: Our internship program is 12 weeks; the end date is flexible based on individual needs.
  • Work Location & Environment: This position will be in Newark, CA, and is fully in-person. You must be prepared to start onsite for your first day of employment. The working environment will be a mix of lab & office work.
  • Compensation: Student compensation is based on location and current degree level, non-negotiable ranging from $40 to $60 (subject to changes).
  • Relocation: May be provided on a case to case basis.
  • Housing/Transportation: You must provide your own living arrangements and transportation in the local area.
  • Background Check: All offers of employment are contingent on clearing a background check.
  • Drug Screening: All offers of employment are contingent on passing a drug screen.
  • Medical benefits: Dental, vision, and medical on day 1 for all interns working full-time.
  • Visa Sponsorship: Lucid may but is not obligated to sponsor foreign national employees requiring company sponsorship for U.S employment authorization.


Compensation Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid's equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs. (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)

Base Pay Range (hourly)

$40 - $60 USD
