JOB DESCRIPTION

The Scrum Master role is responsible for supporting the efficient and effective implementation of Agile methodologies and the Scrum framework within software development teams. They work closely with experienced Scrum Masters to guide and coach the team, ensure team adherence to Agile principles, and facilitate collaboration among team members, stakeholders, and external parties. The incumbent is responsible for aiding in the day-to-day facilitation of the Scrum process, while identifying risks and resolving roadblocks with guidance from the experienced Scrum Master. The Developing Scrum Master plays a significant role in helping the team deliver high-quality, valuable software products on time and within budget, allowing the organization to achieve its goals and enhance user experience.

Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with Scrum events, including Sprint planning, daily stand-ups, Sprint reviews, and retrospectives by taking on responsibilities like timekeeping and noting essential discussion points
  • Maintain scrum artifacts to help the team adhere to Agile principles and the Scrum framework
  • Provide resources and share practical examples to guide and coach the team and Product Owner on Scrum practices and values
  • Communicate observed impediments to the team's progress and recommend resolutions
  • Communicate effectively and facilitate discussions among team members and stakeholders to gain alignment in process and delivery
  • Support team members in learning the key principles of Agile methodologies and the Scrum framework, such as self-organization and cross-functionality and Agile core principles
  • Strive to improve team performance and its Agile maturity
  • Provide support to team members and address their problems without inducing fear
  • Work with Product Owners to prioritize and define product backlog
  • Update task statuses and track completion for team members to help monitor team progress


QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant field, or at least 3 years of experience in software development or project management


Preferred

  • Scrum Master certification (e.g., CSM, PSM, or SAFe Scrum Master) or in lieu of a certification, at least 1 year of experience as a Scrum Master


Knowledge and Experience

Required

  • 2-4 years of experience in software development, IT project management, or a related field
  • 1+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or in a similar Agile coaching role
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and Scrum framework
  • Experience working with distributed teams and multi-project environments
  • Good communication and negotiation skills to resolve conflicts and manage expectations
  • Experience with Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Rally) preferred
  • Familiarity with programming, cloud technology, and CI/CD concepts preferred

This position is eligible to work in the office three days a week and has the option to work remotely two days a week.
