WHO WE ARE
The System Safety Engineer working in the Specialty Engineering group will contribute to a wide variety of projects based on our business needs. The engineer will work as an independent contributor with team leadership to perform System Safety Engineering tasks in support of project objectives.

THE WORK
On a day to day basis:
The engineer will work on tasking which will include requirements analysis, interface analysis, and operations analysis, as well as system safety test and verification.
Analyze hardware and software.
Establish and maintain system safety requirements in support of mission results.
Work directly with customers and project leadership to report out on safety analyses.
Analyze and recommend safety criteria in system design, equipment and procedures to control or eliminate hazards.
Perform audits of operational areas and report effectiveness of system safety programs.
Be responsible for preparing reports, reviewing subcontractor safety documentation and analysis, and leading various safety program tasks.
Participate in accident investigations involving damage to products or related facilities and assists in identification of causes and corrective actions.
Perform ongoing analysis of systems safety programs and how they affect all aspects of design through development and testing to ensure that the most rigorous yet cost effective methods are being adhered to.

Basic Qualifications

- B.S. degree in STEM discipline

- 2 or more years of systems engineering or related experience

- Demonstrated potential to work with systems engineering processes including top-down design starting from high level systems requirements through the allocation of system components, equipment, computer programs, and across organizations

- Familiarity with design of systems (DoD, hardware, software, firmware), control systems, and integration and test of system and subsystem components

- Ability to utilize system safety processes and analysis

- Ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance, therefore, U.S. Citizenship is required

- Security clearance needed prior to start: Interim secret

Desired skills

- Analytical and problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to comprehend and work successfully with complex systems

- Experience with Microsoft Suite

- Experience with weapon system development, radar development, or electrical hardware design

* Experience with requirements and model based engineering tools (i.e. DOORS, Cameo)

- Experience in software development tools and methodologies (i.e. Agile, DevSecOps)

- Experience with safety standards (i.e. MIL-STD-882, OSHA, NAS-411)

- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills

Ability to work remotely

Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $85,500 - $150,765. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $98,300 - $170,315. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
